WASHINGTON - Representative James McGovern (D-MA) has called on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to ensure that the United States acts with "increased vigilance in demanding that all parties in Syria protect minority populations, including Armenians and other Christian communities that have been caught in the cross-fire between opposing forces," reported the Armenian National Committee of America. "We very much appreciate Congressman McGovern's leadership and constructive engagement with the Department of State in ensuring that American aid reaches all those in need in Syria, including Armenians, other Christians, and all victims of violence and depravation in and around the Aleppo region," said Aram Hamparian, Executive Director of the ANCA. Pasadena, CA - Veteran's Day 2012 will be forever imprinted in the minds of almost 3,000 people who attended the HyeAID benefit concert to help the Armenian community in Syria at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California. The artists from local and as far away as Armenia, England and France literally rocked the house and the audience, young and old, responded. They were moved with the songs of sorrow, longing and anguish, and laughed at the comedic remarks of the artists, who switched to upbeat songs to cheer up the audience. Help The Armenian Community In Syria

From Kim Kardashian Hi dolls. I just wanted to share something that's very important to me, and it's something than many of you may not be aware of. Syria is now home to over 100,000 Armenians, most of whom fled during the Armenian Genocide. But in recent years, fighting between the Syrian army and rebels started and thousands of Armenians in Syria have been affected. Armenian churches have been destroyed, homes have been burned down or looted and thousands of Armenians are unemployed and in need. Thousands of Armenians have evacuated their homes, dozens of innocent civilians have been killed and tens of thousands are struggling just to eat or find shelter. The Syrian Armenian Relief Fund was set up…

Hands Across Borders: The Syrian Crisis and the Armenians

Opinion By Maria Titizian The crisis in Syria promises to become a protracted human tragedy. The brutality being exacted by both government and rebel forces has already resulted in a level of devastation that to rebuild neighborhoods, buildings, institutions and also lives will require years if not decades. Rebel forces continue to battle on the streets of Aleppo, Damascus, and other cities in order to topple the minority Alawite regime of Bashar al Assad. International human rights groups are already condemning the dozens of cases of war crimes being perpetrated by both sides. And the Armenian community who for centuries had been living in relative peace and prosperity, whose numbers swelled following the Armenian Genocide when hundreds of thousands found…
